Stretcher bars are a natural, unfinished wood product exclusively meant for use in stretching flat canvas – it does not have a lip or rabbet like traditional picture frame moulding. Length options come straight cut at 7′ & balance, or 5′ and balance. “Balance” is the remaining portion of each stick after it’s cut. The stick length of picture frame moulding can vary anywhere between 7-11ft. – even within the same profile. At Framing 4 Yourself, we charge by the stick, not by the foot, to accommodate for that variance. So when you see your cutting options as 7’ & Balance, you may get just a 7’ stick, or you may get up to 4′ of moulding. For 5’ & Balance order, you can guarantee at least an additional 2’ of length (3’ on average). If you would like the moulding cut at a different length, we can do so – please indicate in your order’s notes where you would like the sticks cut, with a maximum of 7′ due to shipping restraints.
